CHOOSING A DIAMOND - THE 6C's OF QUALITY
|
Carat
Carats are the weight used to measure the mass of a diamond. One carat is equal to 200 milligrams or roughly the equivalent of 0.007 ounces.
Cut
The cut refers to the way in which a diamond has been cut and polished from its original natural rough state. Not to be confused with the shape of a diamond, which is a totally separate area.

Nature is responsible for marks and colour, but the diamond cutter is the one who unlocks the true beauty of a diamond and how well the diamond will reflect light.
There are an infinite number of shapes for diamonds which include princess, heart, pear, round, oval, marquise, and emerald.
Color
Generally no colour at all or a 'D' on a colour scale, is the most valuable and the colour of a diamond that will generate the most fire and sparkle.
Diamonds can also be blue, green, and pink.
Clarity
Every diamond is unique. Nature ensures that each diamond is as individual as the person who wears it. Naturally occurring features known as inclusions, provide a special fingerprint within the diamond. Inclusions are natural fragments such as minerals or fractures, appearing while diamonds are formed in the earth. Even though a natural part of most diamonds, fewer inclusions mean more sparkle and higher value.

With every Diamond you buy at Hardy brothers you will receive a Hardy Brothers Certificate, which warrants the authenticity of the Diamond and the Jewellery in which it is set. It is our guarantee to you for what you have purchased.
